Pioneering scheme greens London estate

🌱 The proof is in the dark green boxes.

Treasure Gardening is delighted to have played a small part in greening the Bayham Estate in Camden, London — a brilliant community-led project bringing colour, biodiversity and healthy food to public walkways.

Led by Think&Do in partnership with the KOKO Foundation, Camden Council and supported by UAL, this initiative has installed vibrant, purpose-built planting boxes filled with evergreen herbs — and more importantly, empowered young people from the estate to manage and care for them as trained ‘Urban Foresters.’

To support the project, we provided one third of the boxes — the dark green ones, appropriately — filled with our new peat-free compost, Wonderfuel. It was a live test: could Wonderfuel prove that compost made from waste materials could outperform traditional mixes? Or would we fall flat on our faces?

Well, the results are in. 🌿 And we’re proud to say Wonderfuel thrived.

Even better — Natalie, one of Bayham Place’s young Foresters, has made a short video testimonial sharing what they’ve achieved and how it’s helped her and her neighbours reconnect with nature and their environment.

As a growing business, it’s incredibly rewarding to see Wonderfuel perform not just in trials, but in real communities. We know it takes time and visible results to build trust. But now, we’re increasingly able to point to thriving gardens, planters and estates across the country as proof of what’s possible.

This partnership with Think&Do also reflects something close to our hearts: building a profitable social enterprise that supports grassroots projects, encourages people to grow their own food, and boosts local biodiversity.

We're excited to see where this goes next. If you're working on a similar community greening project, or just want to grow with great results, try Wonderfuel. We’re confident you’ll see the difference. (And now, you don’t have to just take our word for it!)
